For Leading Between the Lines Readers

The system behind the newsletter

I built Culture Wheel to help you actually do the things I write about every week.

Take a look

A note from Chad

You already know what good leadership looks like. The gap has never been the knowing. It's the doing. Most leaders I've coached had the same problem: reviews in Google Docs, recognition disappearing in Slack, engagement data in a deck nobody read.

So I built Culture Wheel. It's the system I wished every coaching client had before I walked into the room.

Everything your team needs to run feedback.

One-on-Ones

The managers I coach always ask me the same thing: how do I make 1:1s actually useful?

When your managers walk in with the right context, the conversation changes. What was said last time, what got done, what recognition happened in between. All of it there.

Performance Reviews

This is the thing I heard about most from coaching clients. “I know I should be doing reviews, but I don't have a process.”

So I built one. Your managers open it, follow the prompts, and they're done in one sitting. Goals tracked between cycles. Nobody starts from a blank page.

360 Feedback

Most leaders I've coached only hear feedback that's been filtered through their boss. This changes that.

When a director hears from three direct reports that they talk too much in meetings, it lands differently than hearing it from their VP. That's the kind of feedback that changes how someone leads.

Peer Recognition

When I ask teams what's missing, recognition comes up almost every time.

Your team calls out good work publicly, tied to the values you actually care about. Just people noticing each other. Most teams I work with tell me this is the first feature that sticks.

Pulse Surveys

I'd rather you find out your team is struggling from a 30-second survey than from an exit interview.

One anonymous question, 30 seconds to answer. Run it monthly and you'll see trends before they become problems.

Before

  • Recognition lost in Slack threads
  • 1:1s running off memory
  • Reviews scattered in Google Docs
  • Engagement data nobody reads

After

  • Recognition tied to your values
  • 1:1s with shared agendas and context
  • Reviews your managers actually finish
  • Pulse data you check every month

Who it's for

If you lead a team of 5 to 200 and you're still running feedback through spreadsheets and good intentions, this is built for you.

Culture Wheel fills the gap between doing it manually and paying for an enterprise platform your team will never fully adopt. If you've been burned by tools that took months to roll out and nobody used, this is the opposite of that.

Questions I get asked

Those tools are built for HR departments at large companies. They’re powerful, but they’re heavy. Culture Wheel is built for the leader who wants real feedback flowing without a three-month implementation. The interface is simple enough that your team uses it without training. Start with one feature. If it sticks, turn on more.

You can, and most teams do for a while. It works until someone leaves and the history is gone, or you hit 20 people and the manual process quietly breaks. I built Culture Wheel to handle the things that fall apart when you’re doing it by hand: structured review cycles, historical records, and role-based visibility. If your current system isn’t creating friction yet, it probably will.

Yes. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Sessions are secured with HttpOnly cookies and automatic rotation. Every query is scoped to your organization so there’s no cross-tenant data access. I run it on PostgreSQL with Vercel’s infrastructure. If your team has specific compliance requirements, reach out and I’ll walk you through the details.

Use what you need, ignore the rest. At $49/mo for a team of 25, it’s likely cheaper than any single-purpose tool you’re using today. Everything is included, and you can turn features on and off from settings.

Sign up, invite your team by email, and pick which features to turn on. Most teams start with either peer recognition or performance reviews. You can run your first review cycle or launch recognition the same week you sign up. The whole setup takes about 15 minutes.
